was sold by Public Auction by Hopes of Wigton on Tuesday 15th November. After
spirited bidding the land sold to Messers Pigg of Gaitsgill Hall in the sum of
£20,000, a rate of £9302 per acre.

UPDATE
Negotiations to sell Lots 1 and 2 are still ongoing but
for the avoidance of doubt Lots 1 and 2 are still on the market.
Lot 4 has
now been sold.
Lot 1 consists of the farm house, buildings and land extending
to about 215.98 acres. The property was bid to £1,250,000 and withdrawn
in favour of the highest bidder. Lot 2 adjoins Lot 1 and extends to 32.04
acres. The Lot was bid to a figure of £120,000 and was withdrawn in
favour of the highest bidder. Lot 3 extends to 73.15 acres of bare land. It was
sold in the sum of £360,000 the equivalent of £4921 per acre to
Messers Metcalfe of Edenhall. Lot 4 was bid to £195,000 and consists of
fell allotment extending to about 140.60 acres. It was withdrawn in favour of
the highest bidder. Lot 5 is a further block of allotment extending to 89.77
acres or thereabouts. It was sold in the sum of £105,000 to Messers Dixon
of Haresceugh Castle. Lot 6 consists of 19 acres of fell allotment which was
sold in the sum of £25,000 also to Messers Dixon. Lot 7 consists of a
10.18 acre field which was sold in the sum of £50,000 the equivalent of
£4911 per acre to Mr & Mrs Lincoln. Finally Lot 8 consists of a 1.75
acre paddock and was sold in the sum of £16,000 the equivalent of
£9,142 per acre to a Mrs B Page.
